Entrepreneurs from Ural visit Uzbekistan  

On 5 March a delegation of the businessmen of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited the UzExpoCentre exhibition complex to take a look at the stands presented at the "Construction and Interior, Heating and Ventilation C UzBuild 2008" and "Furniture, Production Technology, Interior and Design C MebelExpo Uzbekistan 2008" exhibitions

The exhibitions were orgnaised by the ITE Uzbekistan international exhibition company and its partner ITE Exhibitions & Conferences Ltd (UK).

Among the members of the delegation of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry were the delegates from RemStroyPut CJSC, Krasnogvardeyskiy Kranoviy Zavod OJSC (Sverdlovsk oblast), Jirovoy Kombinat OJSC (Yekaterinburg), SUZMK ENERGO CJSC, Metallurg LLC, UralTermoSvar CJSC, EnergoComplex LLC.

As a part of the visit to the exhibition a roundtable meeting was held to discuss the prospects of developing cooperation between the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Uzbek companies, the issues concerning partnership between the companies and participation in the exhibitions.

"In the first nine months of 2007 the volume of bilateral trade between Sverdlovsk oblast and the Republic of Uzbekistan comprised some US$180 million, of which US$100 million were Russian exports and US$80 million C imports. Today we supply primarily the products of the ferrous metallurgy, rolled metal, as well as lumber. We are pleased that the number of participants has increased, we see a lot of new organizations. This year the exhibition has grown substantially, it is more interesting. We are convinced that the exhibition will be interesting to us and a number of other companies in the future too," said the manager of the department for the development of international relations of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry V. Petuhov.

On 3 March the delegation visited the cities of Ferghana and Margilan, and signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation with the regional department of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Uzbekistan in Ferghana region.

Today the Russian Federation is one of the most important trade and economic partners of the country and its share comprises about 28% of the total foreign trade turnover of the country. A significant growth is observed in the volume of bilateral trade C in the past few years it has exceeded US$4 billion. Dynamic growth is observed in the number of the joint projects implemented in the priority areas of economic cooperation.

At this time about 655 enterprises set up in partnership with Russian investors operate on the territory of Uzbekistan.
